Small Plates Finish

It’s taken much longer than it should have, but this cheerful quilt is now complete (with some photographic assistance from The Dog).

On the back, a lot of grey with a splash of colour.

The pattern is called “Small Plates” and it’s from the book, The Practical Guide to Patchwork by Elizabeth Hartman.

I was pleased to use up a brightly coloured charm pack and some 5″ squares that have been sitting around the sewing room for a long time. I did have to go out and purchase the greys for the back (Joann’s at the top and Fabricland the polka dot at the bottom) and the cute royal blue for the binding (Conservatory by Robert Kaufman for Kona).

It was important to me that this quilt be full of sunshine as it is destined for a friend and co-worker recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I’m hoping it brings warmth, happiness and hugs to her as she goes through her treatment.

And since I’ve finally finished, linking up with Finish-it-up-Friday over at CrazyMomQuilts.

Stay warm!

I’m sure your friend will appreciate the gift of this lovely quilt. Breast cancer is no fun at all – it came to visit me last year. Please give your friend all the support you can, she will get very tired going through her treatment.

  3. Wow it’s beautiful 😍 perfect for brightening a winters day x it takes persistence to get it finished. Well done you must be proud 😊
